Skin Peels

What  Do Our Skin Peels Contain?

Epionce skin peels will help you achieve a radiant, clear complexion and boost the effects of your skincare.Epionce Lite Refresh Peel is a good entry point for clients new to skin peels or for those looking for a more frequent treatment that will boost the condition of the skin by smoothing and brightening. This peel provides a positive anti-oxidant effect, contains anti-inflammatory properties and promotes collagen

Glycolic acid is one of the most effective, clinically proven Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) peels available. It increases exfoliation to produce outstanding results such as rejuvenating your skin and leaving skin softer, with a more youthful appearance.

Glycolic acid exfoliating peels have the following positive effects on your skin:

Exfoliation The bonds between older skin cells in the epidermis are broken down, allowing them to fall away.
Hydration – Your skin’s natural moisturising processes are reinvigorated so that your skin becomes more hydrated.
Stimulation – The peel stimulates the entire epidermis causing the creation of new, fresh skin cells and stabilising the structure and function of the skin.
Firming – The peel increases the density of collagen and elastin in your skin’s dermis (the fibres that make skin appear firmer) helping to improve the elasticity of your skin.
Glycolic- These peels are also effective at addressing more specific skin conditions such as pigmentation and acne by:

Clearing and closing pores, and reducing the appearance of spots. Reducing the amount of melanin in skin cells. Melanin darkens the skin’s pigmentation, so reducing it will help lighten darker areas.

Depending on what kind of peel you have had will determine how your skin will look. We have several types of skin peels that we use and not all are the same.If we use a superficial peel such as the 30% glycol peel by G and T by Aestheticare or our ZO Ossential Stimulator Peel you will have slight redness and sometimes very mild peeling only. Each skin will react different and you may not experience any redness or flaking. This does not mean that the peel has not worked. Our superficial peels are designed to give minimal shedding due to the nature of the ingredients added.

If we have increased your peel  throughout your course you may well experience redness, flakiness and peeling, again others may not experience much. This may be due to the skin having being prepared with previous peels or skin.

If we have used TCA peels(medium peels) you will more than likely experience erythema(redness) for several days as well as 3-7 days of skin peeling. We will never use TCA peels without properly preparing the skin for a minimum of 6 weeks with ZO protocols.

When your skin has finished peeling you will immediately  notice the results of your complexion.  Reduced pore sizes, fine lines and wrinkles, and brown spots are just a few of the benefits of this skin peel.  Improvement of the skin will continue for  up to 6 weeks after.

You can resume your normal activities after your superficial peels normally after 48 hours however we recommend that after a TCA peel you take into consideration several days of redness and flaking and avoid strenuous activities for several days after treatments.

You are advised to stop all hero products such as retinol, salicylic etc 3 days pre and 3 days post treatments with any of our peels.

A high SPF 50 must be worn daily 365 days of the year- NO EXCUSES

To get the best results our practitioner will consult with you on what the most appropriate course of treatment should be depending on the condition of your skin. The in-clinic exfoliating peels are usually offered as a course that builds in intensity towards the end.

Before the first in-clinic peel you will be given a home use exfoliating peel gel to use for 2 weeks to fully prep the skin, which is a lower concentration. You should then continue to use this gel throughout the course of treatment as directed by your practitioner to enhance overall results.

Each in-clinic peel will take approximately 20 minutes. It’s not uncommon to feel some discomfort during the first few minutes as the peel takes effect. Following the treatment your skin may be a little red, but this should soon subside. In the days following your treatment your skin will feel dryer and begin to exfoliate. It’s very important that you routinely wear high-level UV protection during the course of you peels as your skin will be more sensitive than usual. We recommend one of our products from the Heliocare range as they provide broad-spectrum SPF50 protection as a minimum, and contain powerful anti-oxidants.

There are two separate peel procedures available for Epionce lovers that follow the philosophy of active, yet gentle skincare: The Epionce Peel System, performed with medical supervision; and the Lite Peel: Refresh, available for licensed estheticians.

The Epionce Peel System is an excellent peel suitable for most skin types, and customizable in layers of salicylic acid and/or malic acid, depending on peel experience and skin condition.  Individuals will experience minimal recovery/downtime, with minimal to moderate peeling, depending on number of layers applied.

Lite Peel: Refresh is an exceptional starter peel for all skin types, especially very sensitive skin types, using a one-step combination of salicylic and malic acids, and extracts of willow bark and onion.  It’s suitable for those who are brand-new to peeling, or those who desire a “refreshed” look for a big event without any peeling or downtime.

Epionce chemical peels can be used on the face, neck, chest, back, arms and legs.  Performed every two to four weeks, Epionce peels are a great way to help boost the already fantastic results you get using Epionce products at home. Ask your skin care professional to recommend the Epionce peel that is just right for your skin type and skin conditions.

Our TCA are used to treat various skin conditions such as acne, wrinkles, fine lines, pigmentation and sun damage. Skin preparation is paramount prior to a TCA peel and we will prep the skin for a minimum of 6 weeks with our ZO protocols prior to the peel

Resurfacing Damaged Skin with TCA

TCA (trichloracetic acid) is a non-toxic chemical that is used by medical professionals to perform skin peels. When applied to the skin it causes surface skin cells to dehydrate and then peel off over a period of several days to one week. When the surface skin peels away, it exposes a new layer of undamaged skin, which has a smoother texture and a more even skin tone. Practitioners use TCA peels today as a preferred remedy for treating various skin disorders.

  • Reduce brown spots, age spots, uneven skin pigmentation, and the appearance of melasma.
  • Improve the texture of leathery, sun damaged skin and impart more glow.
  • Treat certain types of acne conditions and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Where do you get TCA peels?

TCA peels are not to be taken lightly! Doing them at home by yourself can be dangerous. It is always best to have them carried out by a medical professional with extensive training in the use of TCA. The technique is different from any other peel you may have performed at a beauty therapist.

What to expect from a TCA peel.

TCA peels are serious peels with about 7-10 days worth of downtime. If you are considering getting one done, schedule time of work  to allow recovery. Never have one just before a special event. Our practitioner will best advise.

Re-NU Skin Clinic uses the very latest in skin peel technology and at consultation we will advise you of the peels we use. You can then go home and decide if this is the next step you wish to take.

Cost of TCA.

Our skin peels vary in price and will be discussed at your consultation of the exact cost. Expect to pay around £250 per peel

It’s called the ZO Ossential Stimulator Peel and it works wonders in minutes. It’s a quick and easy treatment that can be done in your lunch hour to miraculously smooth away fine to moderate lines and wrinkles, acne, age spots, uneven pigmentation and rough skin texture.

The Ossential Stimulator Peel is designed to exfoliate the skin by stimulating cellular turnover to improve skin tone, texture and clarity. And the best part is that there is no downtime, peeling or redness afterwards; just glowing, healthy skin.

This peel is affectionately known as the red carpet peel owing to the number of celebrities that avail of it before they have to look picture perfect for red carpet events, and can’t afford to hide away with the redness of flaking that some strong peels cause.

Ossential is gentle on the skin but strong enough to make a visible difference, brightening and refreshing the face for a youthful, dewy look.

This peel contains 3 different acids to exfoliate your skin and promote cell turnover; with 10% Salicylic Acid, 10% Lactic Acid and 10% Citric Acid. These are known as AHA or Alpha Hydroxy acids – they dissolve dead skin cells and give a great exfoliation to the upper layers of the skin. The salicylic acid works on oily, once skin and the citric acid gives the skin a healthy glow.

Just one peel will see results, but maximum benefits can be achieved with a series of three to four peels carried out at two week intervals.

Using the Essential peel with our ZO products makes it even more effective, but it can be used on its own for great results.

Ossential Stimulator Peel can:

  • Soften and rejuvenate sun damaged skin
  • Increase skin tolerance
  • Improve the appearance of age spots or freckles
  • Help with the appearance of hyperpigmentation
  • Soften fine lines and wrinkles
  • Stimulate the production of collagen
  • Exfoliate the skin

The peel is suitable for use on most patients and will make skin look fresher. When you arrive at Renu for your appointment, your skin will be cleansed using the appropriate cleanser from the ZO range before the peel preparation product is applied to your skin.

It’s then followed by the Stimulator Peel which is left on for three to five minutes before it is neutralised with pads soaked in bicarbonate of soda. This restores the Ph balance of the skin after the acids in the peel. The final step is a moisturising serum called ZO Ossential Daily Power Defence is applied and an SPF to protect your skin.

The timing of the peel is important, as skin may get a bit flaky two days afterwards before fresher skin becomes evident

This depends on the condition we are treating however we usually recommend a minimum of 3 peels for optimal results.  Sometimes it is required to have between 6 and 8 peels and a maintenance programme is required.  We will advise of skincare to further enhance the peels.

You may go outside, but sunscreen must be worn  after the peel as your skin will likely be a little more sensitive to sun exposure. If you do not wear sun protection there is a chance of hyper pigmentation therefore we advise daily use of an SPF of 30 or more daily throughout the year to protect your skin. We will advise you to refrain from exposure for around 2 weeks post peel.

A superficial peel that we use will not remove deep lines. We will offer s deeper peel or another treatment especially  if wrinkles are advanced. However a peel will improve the tone, texture, smoothness and appearance of skin making fine lines less visible. Deep wrinkles are better treated with combination treatments which we can discuss with you. The wrinkles will improve however skin will not return to its original state prior to the advancements of wrinkles.

You are required to follow our aftercare post skin peel to achieve the best possible results and also protect the skin from future damage. We will always recommend a high SPF to protect the recently exposed skin minimising the risk of further skin damage.

Failure to adhere to our aftercare is at the clients own risk. Protection with a high SPF of 30 or more should be used daily in the morning or applied more frequently at higher sun exposure. This should be applied even in winter as the sun will expose UVA rays causing wrinkles.  We have a vast knowledge in skin care products and what works for the skin. We will advise on best products for skin resurfacing.
