Questions You May Have

How does Lympha Press compression therapy work?

Lympha Press works by using a specially designed garment filled with air chambers that gently inflate and deflate in a controlled sequence. This wave-like compression pattern helps stimulate the tiny lymphatic capillaries, encouraging them to absorb excess lymph fluid. As the pressure moves through the area, it supports the natural movement of lymph through the vessels and toward the lymph nodes. Once filtered, this fluid is safely eliminated by the body, primarily through the urinary system — helping to reduce swelling and improve circulation.

What is Lymphedema?

You might recognise it as the condition that causes persistent swelling in your feet, making regular shoes uncomfortable — or perhaps you’ve experienced arm swelling following breast cancer surgery. These changes can be distressing, and without proper management, they may interfere with your comfort, confidence, and everyday activities.

What is Fibrosis?

Fibrosis often presents as firm, thickened tissue beneath the skin — a common complication when lymph fluid isn’t moving effectively. Lympha Press can support those affected by these changes by encouraging better lymphatic uptake and flow, even in limbs with existing fibrotic tissue.

Post-Mastectomy Lymphedema

During breast cancer surgery, it’s common for patients to have several lymph nodes removed from under the arm — often two or three in a sentinel lymph node biopsy, or more in an axillary lymph node dissection. These lymph nodes are typically the first place breast cancer cells spread, as they are responsible for draining lymphatic fluid from the breast area.

Is Lympha Press appropriate to use for lipedema patients?

Lipoedema and lipo-lymphoedema clients often experience significant relief with Lympha Press therapy. It’s particularly effective in managing discomfort, improving mobility, and reducing swelling. The Lympha Press Optimal Plus system was specially developed with lipoedema in mind, and has been shown to ease pain, minimise bruising, and support better daily function.

What are the effects of Lympha Press therapy?

Lympha Press enhances both lymphatic flow and venous circulation, helping to relieve congestion and reduce fluid build-up (oedema). This can lead to a noticeable decrease in pain and more effective management of lymphoedema symptoms.

Lipedema

Common signs of lipoedema include painful fat deposits in the arms, hips, and thighs, often with a disproportionate lower body.

Skin may feel nodular or dimpled, with easy bruising and a visible cuff of fat at the ankles.
Despite diet and exercise, the fat remains resistant to loss.

Does cancer screening include genetic testing?

Yes, depending on your chosen cancer screening in Dundee, it will include genetic testing for mutations such as BRCA1 and BRCA2. Any genetic dispositions linked to hereditary cancers will be tested for within our screening packages.

What makes Lympha Press® systems so unique?

Lympha Press offers faster treatment cycles, delivering more effective sessions in less time. Its pre-therapy mode gently prepares the area by mimicking manual lymphatic drainage. Pressure can be customised across 12 zones to target specific areas and individual needs.

Overlapping compression chambers create a smooth, wave-like flow for maximum comfort. The garments are made from non-stretch fabric to direct pressure inward, with exclusive full-body options like Lympha Pants™ and Comfysleeve™ for comprehensive coverage.

Lympha Press® Treatment Modes

Lympha Press systems feature a range of advanced treatment modes designed to support different therapeutic goals. Pretherapy gently prepares the body using principles of manual lymph drainage, starting near the core.

Sequential (Lympha) mode inflates each chamber one at a time from the foot or hand upward, creating a smooth, milking effect. Wave (Peristaltic) mode inflates two chambers at a time in a continuous wave-like motion, always maintaining pressure behind the flow to direct lymph fluid upward.

Pressure can be individually adjusted across 3 to 12 zones to follow a precise gradient, reduce pressure in sensitive areas, and ensure safe, directional flow—reverse gradients are not permitted.
