The trichoscopy examination:

FotoFinder and TrichoLAB provide comprehensive functions for measuring and examining hair growth and hair loss. The Trichoscale AI tool uses Artificial Intelligence to determine various parameters, whether trichoscopy or digital trichogram.  Your hair consultation with the TrichoLAB Service will give an accurate trichoscopy report as a basis for our decision– without plucking, shaving or biopsy!

We spend approx 60 minutes  finding out about your concerns, your medical history, medication, nutrition, family history of hair loss as well as your lifestyle.

During your trichology hair consultation we use TrichoLAB a lab specialising in hair research and methods for following-up on hair and scalp disorders.It is included as part of the initial face to face consultation

Once we have completed your consultation we will upload your report to our experts in Europe who will then make a diagnosis. Once the report is sent to the clinic you will be invited back to discuss the next course of action. If you have taken the Trichotest ( blood test) this will take approx 14-221 days to have the results.

The Trichology test: A Genetic test for hair loss

How It Works

The Fagron TrichoTest™ is a simple test to take and administer, but under the surface it’s backed with science, research and innovative analysis that can identify which hair loss treatments are most likely to provide the best results for you.

1. The process begins with a simple saliva (buccal) swab taken in clinic or at home* with a professional, to obtain a sample of your DNA.

2. You then will need to complete an online questionnaire about your lifestyle factors. This will take around 30 minutes and will include questions about your age, height, weight and any medical conditions you may have.

3. The swab is returned to the Fagron UK hub before being shipped to our state-of-the-art laboratory in Barcelona. Our laboratory uses the most advanced technology available for genomics analysis.

4. Using highly specialised TaqMan OpenArray technology, DNA is extracted from your saliva swab and the gene mutations relevant to hair loss are identified and analysed together with the information provided by your online lifestyle questionnaire.

5. When the analysis is complete, a digital report is generated and sent securely to the clinic  to review. The report outlines the gene variations that we analysed alongside any identified mutations. This is then followed by the subsequent recommended hair loss treatment options for these, which allows for a personalised treatment plan to be created by us.
